The Queen has returned.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
I’ll make this part spoiler-free, but be warned that the discussion above is FULL of spoilers, and I really don’t recommend watching it unless you’ve read the book and want to discuss it with me in more detail.
The things I liked:
– It’s a lot more fast-paced compared to Heir of Fire. This one, so many epic things happened in the second half of the book that I think my mind didn’t stop palpitating until an hour after reading. That’s how edge-of-your-seat-great it was. The action and the kick-assery and bad-assery were so abundant that I may have foamed in my mouth (foaming in mouth acted in the discussion video, so make sure not to miss that one out).
– Manon becomes more interested (I forgot to discuss this, heh). Heir of Fire, I couldn’t really give a shit about here, but here, I actually looked forward to how she will be handling the situation even though her team wasn’t very certain about their bosses’ agendas.
– THE MYSTERY! THE MYSTERY AND CONSPIRACIES DEEPEN! I may or may not have gasped at certain points and then looked at the sky wondering why I did not think of such a thing. You genius, Maas you!
– THAT GRAVEYARD SCENE. Tears were shed in that scene.
– Nesryn. She’s a cool gal, I want to see more of her in the next book!
Things I didn’t like:
– Chaol. Good lord, man, what happened to you?!
– Aedion. He felt a little OOC here… from a serious character, he was sidelined and somehow made up to be some sort of comic relief? Which was WEIRD.
I super like this installment and I CAN’T wait for the 5th book!!! <3
